The Beginnings
In the early post-war years young Willi Betz in Undingen in the Swabian Alps found a gap in the market: He bought an decommissioned army truck and began to transport groceries, building supplies and coal – an essential services in the years of reconstruction. In the years that followed the company grew so fast that the company base was soon moved to Reutlingen and the first branch was set up in Saarbrücken.
Company growth
In the sixties commerce between the European countries sprang into life again, and subsidiaries were set up in Austria, Italy, France, England and The Netherlands. Towards the end of the sixties Willi Betz forged strong contacts with the state transport company of Bulgaria, SOMAT. In the 90’s the company took almost full control of SOMAT. With this step Willi Betz became not only market leader in Middle East transport, but one of the largest transport companies in Europe.
The Present
In more recent years the client and service portfolio of Willi Betz has been further extended. The logistical separation between the divisions of Transport and Forwarding Services ensures greater transparency and sharper focus on core expertise. The end goal is to achieve greater orientation to the customer's needs. With a revived brand appearance, while incorporating the traditional logo, Willi Betz is now well-positioned to continue the story of its success.
